MY 2009 MOVIE TRIPS LIST!

October 3, 2009 behindthename Leave a comment

A new movie-watching season begins. Not really. This season won’t be as bountiful as the one before. (Esp. since I’ve watched much more movies than I’ve written about – in theaters!!! Can I boast? Quick reviews, too. If you want me to elaborate, or wish to agree with me or whatnot, just comment and I’ll reply.) So. The 2009 repertoire. In no particular order.(Coraline, Shopaholic, and the Knowing excluded because they had the honor of appearing in previous blog entries!!!Even got their own reviews! These poor things DON’T! Darn bad for them!!)

1. 17 again. Zack Efron is omnipotent. That’s what I learned.  What can I say? He’s qualified to advertise toothpaste…and just about anything.

2. Public Enemies. I know why most people like this move. Scratch that; love this movie. I bet Johnny himself does, too.

3.District 9. Wicked alien fun. Takes you on a ride to witness an ignorant society and the intelligent extraterrestrial beings it hosted. Yup, an adventure. That makes your blood run cold.

4. Accidental husband. WOAH. I just remembered I watched this movie. After about 3 months. What may this suggest?

5. Angels and demons. Watched the second half. Was late. Hated it. Both that fact and the thing itself, too. Maybe it was Brown’s fault, maybe my own inability to be punctual, or maybe just the movie sucked. Choice C. Demonic quality, with no angelic reputation to make up for it.

6. The Proposal. Actually, this wasn’t at all bad. It was kind of amusing, actually. I had a good time. Made me appreciate my family. A lot. (In a different way from Coraline, of course!)

7. Ice Age 3. The farther in the age, the crazier. The only sane-minded creature in this fiasco is Ellie. Wasn’t that the girl mammoth? And I feel like slapping Sid. In fact, to make a long story short, I almost got to the point of slapping a man (or woman?) in a Sid costume at an amusement park. I got away with simply telling them off though, and telling them everything I think about Sid.

8. Harry Potter 6. Please tell me something’s wrong with me, not THIS movie. For I don’t want to suddenly find out that I spent like half my life waiting for this cra-… sorry, this creative mess to be released. More like spewed at me with its mediocre filming, banal special effects and the most incompetent acting I’ve ever seen. Sorry, Dan, your mustache has nothing to do with it. It’s just that the real Harry in the book makes me a bit biased against you.

9. G-force. I want a guinea pig. They’re incredibly fast, quick-witted, and might help me take over the world. As long as I give that big fat one cake. It’ll do anything.

Ah, now I am filled with wispy memories. Now let’s darken the mood by revealing the list of all the movies I’ve MISSED this summer. (It’s not that sad though. Living in a forest beats sitting in a theater any time.)

MISSED LIST (Movies I’ll just have to watch on DVD and suck up the feeling of void from not seeing them on the big screen.)

1. Up. I didn’t want to see it either. Take that, flying house. What, did someone just call me explicitly hypocritical? That’s okay. You’re right.

2. Transformers 2: Revenge..of the Fallen. NOOOOOO I missed it; my life is over. I am sure I just cannot survive without knowing what the Lego robots will do to us next. They shall take revenge on me now; I know this is the end! Am cowering before thou, oh Sir Transformer. The earth can verify.

3. Inglorious Basterds. Now this is sad. I wanted to see this. But I was too busy packing books I would read on the plane. I’m sure Pitt was just fine without me though. Tear, tear.

4. Final destination 4. If this ever reaches its final destination, that will be my dumpster. Just kidding. It will be the incinerator.

5. 9. Uh. Well… Don’t really miss this one.

6. White out. Looks chilly and mesmerizing, just the way I like it. Might see it.

NEW MOVIES LIST!!!!

This is never going to end, is it? Well, with the new school year comes the new movie season. So far it’s just one watched movie. (Hmph, that’s nothing to smirk at. Let’s see how you analyze colonial America. Then we’ll chuckle. If you’ll be able to, that is.)

1. Surrogates. WOW. It had me frozen in my seat. Sci-fi, gotta love it.

TO-WATCH LIST

1. That meatball movie. Is it worth it? Tell me. The truth.

2. An education. I have an ominous feeling about this. But I want to see it. I love British accents.

An Ode to History

October 3, 2009 behindthename 4 comments

I can’t believe I’ve made an ode to it and now I am stuck with history homework. :/

Enjoy and comment. You kinda have to read into this one, I don’t believe in superficiality. I bet some of you can even guess who inspired this one.

It’s been a long time

Since the old man lifted his eyes

His gaze has been shifted to the city’s demise.

His name has been stripped of a value and lore.

Despite the lives they have cost once before,

His words have been muted by the frenzy of war.

His face is a parchment of creases of time

His palms have a vision, patterned by line.

It is not he who is blind, reader, it’s you,

Unable to tell the false from the true.

The man can predict the motion of skies,

You are defenseless in History’s eyes.
